These are the storyboarding pieces that I came up with for the project. Brainstorming is a crucial part in motion design as it helps to get the overall view of the project and staying in line with the client brief.
The focus was to capture how Kenya Power has streamlined their processes. This video helps Kenya Power in show transparency and building trust with the Kenyan people.
As you can see each category has different slides that explain a particular feature or topic. I have arranged this way so that the final video has the same look and feel and each slide continues the story seamlessly.
These are some off the story pieces I created in illustrator that guided me while animating in After Effects. Before animating it is a good practice to take the direction from the storyboards and now visualizing them to craft every piece.
Each slide went along with the brief clearly showing that this project is about Kenya Power from the colors to the structure. The video should speak Kenya Power.
My goal was to make sure that each slide builds the story and does not retract from the overall message I wanted to convey. The main objective of the video was to make it simple and anyone watching it can understand what's happening.
As the video moves forward there's a section where I start explaining the various charges that are incurred in the day to day costs. I decided to include a footer at the bottom that guides the viewer where they currently are as you can see from the above image.
This ensures that the viewer knows which step they are currently in and doesn't get lost. It acts as a visual guidance and technique to keep the video going and amplifies the simplicity.
For the final video it had to feel simple and straight to the point that was the key point. I made sure the animations were smooth leading from one point to the next. The voice over was also slow and steady not rushed like a promotional video.
